Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, the global communications solutions provider, has signed a strategic partnership with the Rochester Institute of Technology in Dubai (RIT Dubai) to roll out its University Partnership Programme. As a member of this programme designed to grow academic-industry partnerships, promote Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise technologies, enhance student learning and fuel future innovation, RIT Dubai will benefit from access to Alcatel-Lucent EnterpriseCloud platforms for communications and location-based services (LBS) to develop projects that will be part of student courses.
As part of the partnership, RITDubai students will have access to the Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess® Stellar LBS solution to develop projects as part of their course. This will serve the dual purpose of giving students the opportunity to lead real projects in an industrial context while allowing Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise to conduct exploratory developments within the current projects. For its part, RIT Dubai will support Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise in providing training to the students and help with professional integration through internships and apprenticeships.
Students will useAlcatel-Lucent OmniAccessStellar LBS in its native form to develop solutions to address any location requirements with a set of software development tools to enable the creation of location-based services on various mobile devices and operating systems. Supported by the Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Cloud-based CPaaS RainbowTMplatform, students will be able to add real-time communication features such as voice, video and messaging to their own applications without needing to build back-end infrastructure and interfaces.
“In the age of digital transformation, it is our mission to contribute to research and innovation. Through our strategic partnerships with leading technology universities, we are encouraging students to innovate and excel in the areas of computer science, cognitive communication, artificial intelligence and analytics,” said Driss El Malki, CPaaS Development Director, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise. “It is also our contribution towards developing the necessary skills and knowledge to build a strong workforce that meets the needs of organisations in the near future.
