Today on the sidelines of GITEX Technology Week, UAE-based telecommunications service provider – ‘du’, and Symantec, the world’s leading cyber security company, announced that du will now provide cloud-delivered Web Security Services in the UAE based on Symantec’s solutions. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony to solidify this partnership took place at the du stand at the exhibition, in the presence of Stuart Henderson, Senior Vice President, EMEA Symantec and Fahad AlHassawi, Chief Commercial Officer, du and other senior members from du executive management team. Symantec’s Web Security Service lets enterprises control access, protect users from web-born threats, and secure their data.
Under the agreement, Symantec’s Web Security Service will be hosted on du local data centres, allowing enterprises with secured connectivity to integrate multiple solutions to help create operational efficiencies for all devices. As businesses across the country move to cloud-based offerings, du and Symantec will empower this transition from a security point-of-view with stronger protection, greater visibility and better control of critical assets, users and data. Symantec’s Cloud Security Platform delivers the broadest and deepest set of security solutions, delivered in the cloud and for the cloud.
Commenting on the partnership, Fahad AlHassawi, Chief Commercial Officer, du, said, “Data integrity and cyber security constitute two of the primary concerns for enterprises, and Symantec’s cloud-delivered Web Security Services gives our customers, individuals and enterprises alike, peace-of-mind knowing their data is secure and will be protected within the UAE.”
The migration of security services to a cloud-based platform offers consumers a high-level of flexibility and security within the country. The service provides powerful content-inspection capabilities, including multi-layered, dual anti-virus and heuristic analysis, filtering potential malware before delivery, while keeping false positives extremely low. New devices, cloud use, and the evolution of the network have complicated the battle against web and cloud-based threats.
“The influx of personally-owned devices, high-speed internet, and cloud-based computing platforms is redefining the traditional IT landscape which Symantec defines as the Cloud Generation. Our partnership with du a preferred ICT partner of businesses in the UAE, allows us to fulfil our commitment to provide cybersecurity solutions to individuals and enterprises alike, and ultimately secure UAE’s cyber space,” said Stuart Henderson, Senior Vice President, EMEA Symantec.
