The Electronic Census of Population, Housings and Establishments 2020 is participating in Salalah’s Khareef Festival 2019 as part of their recently launched data update campaign, “Your Data, Your Identity”. Through its engagement, E-Census 2020 will introduce people with the project and its objectives. Additionally, it will highlight the importance of updating and completing information to establish a comprehensive database that contributes to the Sultanate’s sustainable development plans.

“The project has made great progress in data-matching phase. This has been possible due to the continuous support and cooperation of competent public and private sector authorities,” said Eng. Omar Al Ismaili, Director General of E-Census 2020. “Our participation aims to encourage community engagement and through it, we encourage people, including residents, citizens and institutions to update their data. Therefore, we will be able to finalise an accurate and comprehensive national database,” he added.

Al Ismaili further emphasised that data is the real wealth, used to build modern societies. Its availability determines the needs of people and contributes to the creation of national strategies for socio-economic development in the Sultanate.

The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) booth at the festival will feature videos about the project’s work mechanism, its visual identity, information to raise awareness and the related authorities. The project requests citizens and residents to update data such as the current residence address, family data, disability, qualification, municipal licenses, leases, activity code location and issuing civil certificates including birth certificates, death and updating marital status.
