The Ministry of Health and Prevention, MoHAP, in partnership with Abbott, has recently announced the launch of its AI-based program “AlinIQ CDS” to help enhance clinical management through patient-centric insights.

The announcement was made during MoHAP’s participation in the Arab Health 2020, which is held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, January 27 – 30.

The “AlinIQ CDS” enable the medical team to make patient-specific decisions by employing artificial intelligence (AI), for easy and convenient access to protocols and treatment guidelines for the patient’s health status.

The program also helps to strengthen clinical management, improve clinical standards, and reduce risks, by providing patient-centric standardized clinical data and treatment.

This would help plan and control treatment, and monitor the patient’s advanced condition.

Furthermore, this innovative program will help improve the quality of health services, reduce medical errors, enhance patient safety, increase productivity within health facilities, and reduce information asymmetry by enhancing compatibility with protocols and guidelines for all medical centers.

The Latest Strategies for Developing Clinical Work

“MoHAP is keen to enhance the capabilities of its health care facilities, develop its infrastructure, and consolidate innovation and services based on the latest technologies. This can be achieved by relying on artificial intelligence and employing protocols and treatment guidelines in accordance with the patient’s health condition,” said H.E. Dr. Youssif Al Serkal, Assistant Undersecretary for the Ministry’s Hospitals Sector.

He explained that the “AlinIQ CDS” would help improve the quality of health care, increase efficiency through appropriate test recommendations, improve clinical and laboratory workflows, enable the medical team to adopt the latest strategies to develop clinical work, and improve treatment in accordance with the worlds’ evidence-based practices.

Furthermore, the “AlinIQ CDS” contributes to improving the patient experience in health facilities and enhances the quality and safety of multidisciplinary health services.

“We, at MoHAP, are keen to adopt standards of institutional and medical governance, as part of our strategy to build quality and safety for therapeutic, healthcare and pharmaceutical systems according to international standards and to underline that quality and patient safety are key pillars in the constant development of the health sector,” he concluded.

Real-Time Access to Clinical Information

Dr. Kalthoum Al Baloushi, Director of MoHAP’s Hospitals Administration, said: “MoHAP strives to employ the AI technologies to raise the efficiency of health services provided to patients, whether in terms of speed or quality, more importantly, to reduce medical errors. The “AlinIQ CDS” would help enable clinical experts to institutionalize their knowledge and automatically apply their decision-making process to individual patient cases—generating relevant, patient-specific insights at scale. Through this process, AlinIQ CDS can help health care organizations reduce variability in care delivery and the subsequent impact on efficiency, resource utilization, and patient outcomes.”
